How TV Remote works

From download to changing the channel in under a minute.

  1. Join the same Wi-Fi

Turn the TV on and make sure your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network as it.

  2. Pick your TV

Allow local network access when asked. The app lists the TVs it finds, and you tap yours.

  3. Approve it once

Accept the prompt on Samsung or LG, or type the code the TV shows for Google TV, Fire TV and Vizio. Roku needs nothing.

  4. Control everything

D-pad, volume, channels, playback, inputs, apps, keyboard and voice. Next time, it reconnects on its own.

Everything you need, built in

Why people choose TV Remote Control • Universal.

One remote for your TVs

Samsung, LG webOS, Roku, Google TV and Android TV (Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Nvidia Shield, Chromecast with Google TV), Fire TV and Vizio. Save several TVs and switch between them.

Finds your TV by itself

The app searches your Wi-Fi and lists the TVs it finds. Tap yours, approve it on the TV, and you’re connected. If a TV doesn’t show up, you can add it by IP address.

A trackpoint, not a touchpad

Push and hold the green nub: the further you push, the faster it goes. It moves the cursor on Samsung and LG, and works the arrow keys on every other TV. Sensitivity is adjustable.

Type with your phone keyboard

Search boxes and passwords stop being a chore. Letters appear on the TV as you type, on Samsung, LG, Roku and Google TV.

Voice search

Say what you want to watch. Your iPhone turns it into text, then searches for it or types it into the TV.

Apps in one tap

Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+ and the rest of your TV’s apps sit in one grid. Tap to open, hold and drag to put your favourites first.

Reconnects instantly

Your last TV reconnects the moment you open the app, with no fresh network search. Presses made while it reconnects are queued, not lost.

Bluetooth in one tap

Get to the TV’s Bluetooth pairing screen for headphones or a soundbar in one press. Google TV goes there directly; on other TVs you record the route once and replay it.

Completely free

Every feature is included. No ads, no subscription, no account and no tracking. An optional tip is there if you want to support the app, and it unlocks nothing.

TV Remote FAQ

Quick answers to the questions people ask before downloading.

TV Remote is coming soon for iPhone. It is not available on the App Store yet. Tap Notify me on launch to open a prefilled email, then send it to request a launch notification.

Yes. Every feature (the remote, keyboard, voice search, apps, inputs and Bluetooth shortcut) is free, with no ads, no subscription and no account. There’s an optional one-off tip in Settings if you want to support the app. It unlocks nothing, and the app works exactly the same whether or not you leave one.

Samsung smart TVs from 2016 onwards, LG webOS TVs, Roku TVs and Roku streaming players, Google TV and Android TV (including Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Nvidia Shield and Chromecast with Google TV), Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, and Vizio SmartCast TVs. The guide for each brand shows how to set it up.

Yes. TV Remote talks to your TV over your home network, the same way the manufacturers’ own apps do, so your iPhone and the TV need to be on the same Wi-Fi.

Yes, as long as the TV is still connected to your Wi-Fi. Open the app, pick your TV and you have a full remote again. On Roku, the Find remote button makes your Roku remote play a sound so you can track it down.

Yes. Roku, Google TV, Fire TV and Vizio wake from standby over your Wi-Fi with the power button, and the power button turns any connected TV off.

Yes, on Samsung, LG, Roku and Google TV. Open the keyboard and letters appear in the TV’s text box as you type, and voice search turns what you say into a search.

Yes. Fire TV sticks and Fire TV Cube pair with a 4-digit PIN, and Roku streaming players and Roku TVs connect with no pairing at all.

Check that the TV is on, that your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi (not a guest network) and that Local Network access is turned on for TV Remote in iPhone Settings. On Roku, set Settings › System › Advanced system settings › Control by mobile apps to Default. You can also add a TV by its IP address.

None. There’s no account, no analytics and no advertising. Your TVs and pairing keys are stored on your phone and everything goes straight between your iPhone and your TV on your own network.
