A Free Roku Remote App for iPhone

TV Remote is coming soon for iPhone. Email us for a launch notification. This guide previews how to use the app when it is available.

Roku is the easiest platform to control from a phone. Roku TVs and Roku streaming players accept commands from apps on the same Wi-Fi with no code and no prompt.

TV Remote finds your Roku, connects straight away and gives you a full remote, including the keyboard.

What works on Roku

Roku gets one of the fullest remotes in the app:

  • D-pad, OK, Back, Home and the playback keys
  • Typing from your iPhone keyboard, and voice search that goes straight to Roku search
  • Your installed channels and apps in one grid
  • Volume, and on Roku TVs, channel up/down and input switching
  • Find remote: makes your Roku remote play a sound so you can track it down

If the app can’t control your Roku

Roku has a setting that blocks phone apps. On the Roku, open Settings › System › Advanced system settings › Control by mobile apps, and set Network access to Default. Then reconnect from the app.
