A Free Samsung TV Remote App for iPhone
TV Remote is coming soon for iPhone. Email us for a launch notification. This guide previews how to use the app when it is available.
Samsung smart TVs from 2016 onwards can be controlled over Wi-Fi, which means your iPhone can be the remote. You don’t need a Samsung account or the SmartThings setup.
TV Remote connects straight to the TV on your home network. You approve it once on the TV, and from then on it reconnects whenever you open the app.
What works on a Samsung TV
Samsung gives apps more control than most brands, so nearly everything is available:
- D-pad, OK, Back, Home, volume, mute and channel up/down
- A real on-screen cursor driven by the trackpoint, handy in the web browser and in apps that show a pointer
- Typing from your iPhone keyboard into the TV’s search and login boxes
- Voice search: say it, and the text is typed into the TV
- Your installed apps in one grid, launched with a tap
- Number pad, colour buttons, Guide, Info and the playback keys
If the TV doesn’t show the Allow prompt
Samsung only asks the first time an app connects. If you pressed Deny by accident, open the TV’s Settings › General › External Device Manager › Device Connection Manager › Device List, remove TV Remote, then connect again from the app.
